Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Last updated 28 July 2026
Global Building Services Limited ("we") operates this website. This policy explains how we handle personal information, in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
What we collect
When you request a quote. The form collects your name, email address, telephone number, and — optionally — the site address, city, postal code, a description of the situation and any photographs you attach. We also record the language you used, the IP address the request came from and your browser's user-agent string.
The IP address and user-agent are not used to profile you. They exist so that we can identify and block automated abuse of the form, and nothing else.
When you use the chat window. Your question is sent to our server, matched against the published content of this site, and answered. Conversations are not stored. Nothing you type in the chat window is written to our database or retained after the answer is returned.
When you simply browse. We do not run analytics, advertising trackers or third-party marketing scripts on this site.
Cookies
This site sets one essential cookie: a session cookie used to keep your form entries consistent across pages and to protect submissions against cross-site request forgery. It is strictly necessary for the site to function, expires when your session ends, and carries no advertising or tracking function.
The Contact page can display an embedded Google map. It does not load until you click it. Once you do, Google may set its own cookies, governed by Google's privacy policy rather than ours. If you prefer not to, the full postal address is written out on the page and the map is never required.
Why we collect it
Solely to respond to your request: to assess the work, prepare a quote, contact you about it, and carry out the job if you engage us. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not send marketing emails to people who have not asked for them.
Who sees it
Our own staff, and only those who need it to answer your request. We share personal information with third parties only where the work requires it — for example, an accredited laboratory analysing a sample, or a licensed disposal facility receiving regulated waste — and only what those parties need. We also disclose information where the law requires it.
Our website and email are hosted with Hostinger, whose servers process the data on our behalf.
How long we keep it
Quote requests are retained for three years from the date of submission. This reflects how the business actually works: a property owner who requests an assessment often proceeds a year or two later, and having the earlier assessment on file spares them a second one.
Where we carry out work, the associated records — laboratory results, disposal manifests, clearance testing — are kept longer, because occupational health and safety and environmental legislation requires it, and because you may need them years later when selling or insuring the building.
Photographs attached to a request are deleted along with the request.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law you may:
- ask what we hold about you, and receive it in an understandable form;
- correct it if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete it, where we are not otherwise required to keep it;
- withdraw your consent to further contact, at any time.
Write to the email address below. We respond within 30 days, as the law requires. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to the administration area is restricted to authenticated staff accounts. Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever created a real risk of significant harm to you, we would notify you and the relevant commissioner, as the law requires.
Children
This site is aimed at property owners and businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the revised version is published here with an updated date. Continuing to use the site after that constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
